Hi there! My name is Sarah, and I am so glad you are here.  It is incredibly brave to take this step of pursuing counseling.  If you feel like you are at a standstill in life, a hopeless spot, or even just want to understand more about how you are uniquely wired, I’d love to create a safe space for you. I’ve spent time on staff at a college campus ministry at Appalachian State, and have worked many years in the fitness world. Holistic health that addresses the mind, body, and

spirit is important to me, and exploring this together is something I’d like to offer. I work mostly with teens, adults of all ages, and couples.

How I Help

Building a safe relationship in therapy is a priority to me.  People need to feel as though they have a soft place to land when the world around them is hard and confusing.  Sifting through these things with empathy and compassion is what I do for you so that you can also do that for yourself.  The experiences you have had in your life have made and shaped who you are, and we can explore these things together to gain greater self-awareness. I believe that gentleness and grace are important ingredients to help get you on the path of becoming who you want to be.  Ultimately, I work through a person-centered approach to therapy where you guide our sessions in the nonjudgmental, grace-filled environment I provide.

My Specialties

Anxiety and Depression

Whether you have experienced bouts of anxiety and depression as seasonal/situational, or overwhelming thoughts and feelings have lingered throughout your life, we can work together to understand how these specifically affect you. We will learn the best ways for you to manage symptoms, while also exploring some of the root causes of the emotions that anxiety and depression can bring.

Couples

Life can bring unique challenges when two people come together and learn how to do life alongside one another. Whether you have been together for a few months or several decades, I would love to help you turn towards one another to build your emotional connection. Relational health is an important piece of our overall health.

Trauma

The world can be a hard place and we can unfortunately encounter the darkness that can infect our lives. I have experience with Internal Family Systems therapy and Narrative therapy, which can help you process your story in a completely safe way. Being patient in the process of uncovering can lead you to freedom and healing from something that has been hurtful and paralyzing. There is hope in this place and I already believe that for you today.

More About Me

I am a lifelong learner and grower! I embrace curiosity and love learning about other people. In my free time, I enjoy doing anything outside (running, biking, walking, and playing with my dogs). My husband and I enjoy greenways, the White Water Center, playing volleyball, and

finding new outdoor adventures. I also value connecting with God through being outside, journaling, and reading.
