When your teenager is depressed, you might see them crying more, isolating from friends and family, or engage in harmful and critical self-talk. Many teens feel the pressure to look “normal,” trying to keep up with schoolwork, extracurriculars, and friends while managing intense moods. This pressure can be overwhelming and can lead to them feeling empty, numb, and incredibly tired.

Your anxious teen may spend hours doing homework to perfection, or they may procrastinate for days to calm the fear that they will never measure up.  Symptoms of anxiety can include Avoidance of uncomfortable situations, Panic attacks, Body aches, and illnesses.

If your teenager experienced trauma, they’re likely to experience nightmares and flashbacks, trouble focusing, intense anxiety that gets in the way of focusing on friends, fun, and school responsibilities.  We can help your teen to manage the distressing emotions to return to feeling secure in everyday life, gain healthy ways of expressing feelings, and learn to communicate challenging thoughts to trusted adults and parents.
