Continuing Education Training Program

Bareiter Counseling Center has been approved by NBCC as an approved continuing education provider, ACEP No. 7172. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified.
Bareiter Counseling Center is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.
Bareiter Counseling Center in Charlotte is pleased to offer continuing education training from our experienced therapists and other clinicians in our community. In addition, Charlotte has a wide variety of trained and experienced professionals who have much to offer our field of mental health care.
We offer training in Internal Family Systems (IFS)—both introductory and specialized IFS workshops—among other topics in professional counseling.

Friday, June 27th, 2025 Serenity and Courage – Applying the Wisdom of IFS in work with Addiction
This workshop will explore the disease model of addiction through the lens of Internal Family Systems (IFS). Participants will learn application of IFS in the treatment of addictive behavior as well as working with the parts in the various stages of change.
Dual Relationships and Confidentiality: This workshop will include self-reflection and sharing to your comfort level, for the safety of all participants, it will be important to prevent (if possible) dual relationships of those in attendance – for example if you know that a client will be present, perhaps choose the alternate workshop. Since the training will include sharing to the comfort level of the students, you agree to keep confidential any and all personal sharing that takes place during the workshop.
Policy for registering complaints or disputes: Please bring to my attention any complaint or dispute you may have about the registration process, workshop, materials or facility. I will then, as required, report the complaint to NBCC within 60 days of your notifying me.

Friday, July 18th, 2025 Connecting our Stories and our Parts – Using Genograms and Parts Maps in IFS Therapy
This workshop will explore the theory and use of genograms within Family Systems Therapy. Through experiential exercises, participants will create their own genograms and parts maps and discover how to use these tools in therapy with their clients. THIS WORKSHOP REQUIRES A WORKING KNOWLEDGE OF IFS.

Thursday and Friday, September 25th and 26th 2025 Understanding and Treating Trauma with Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Two Day Workshop. During Day One, we will explore the varieties of trauma through the lens of IFS and basic tenets from Somatic Experiencing® and Attachment Theory.
We will conceptualize trauma’s imprint and the creation of parts. Day Two will focus on preparation for deep work and treatment using IFS. Included will be a discussion of our therapist parts that may be activated. An experiential exercise and demonstrations will be utilized to advance your learning.
